Venue
UCD (University College Dublin) is a magnificent conference destination with versatile space making it the perfect location for EFDC2. UCD is proud to have hosted a large number of prestigious National, European and International conferences.
UCD has a variety of state of the art lecture theatres available, notably in the O'Reilly Hall and O’Brien Centre for Science, which we have proposed as the venue spaces for the conference. The two buildings are adjacent to each other and are connected by a short walkway, beside a pleasant man-made lake.
The campus is located on a 132 hectare site, 4km south of Dublin city centre. The campus is an attractively landscaped complex of modern architectural buildings, offering an oasis of calm between sessions.
UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics
UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics is Ireland's highest ranking School of Mathematics and Statistics. The School is the largest of its kind in Ireland and offers the greatest choice of programmes at undergraduate, masters and PhD level, reflecting the ubiquity of the mathematical sciences in the modern world.
Access
Dublin Bus provide services to the campus from the city centre and rail stations. Onsite parking is limited and the university encourages public transport or cycling as a green campus.
O’Reilly Hall
University College Dublin’s flagship venue is one of the most impressive conference venues in Ireland – an ideal combination of form and function that turns a gathering into a major event.
Designed by world-renowned architects Scott Tallon Walker, its clean lines, high specification and capacity make it the University’s flagship venue: a home to large conferences and high-profile events, as well as UCD’s most important ceremonies.
Its walls are enlivened by paintings commissioned from leading Irish artists, and the venue’s advanced soundproofing and open spaces add to the ambience. An airy conservatory area overlooks the campus lake and is ideal for registration, receptions, assembly and networking.
O'Brien Centre for Science
A variety of auditoriums, theatres and well-appointed rooms make the O’Brien Centre an impressive conferencing venue right at the heart of campus. Its large glass atrium is ideal for exhibitions, and it has the flexibility to cater for a wide range of event types.
